Corvette ZR1
Good evening, I hope that everyone had a nice ”Drive your Corvette to work” day! According to autoweek.com, Jim Mero, the development engineer of the new Corvette ZR1 had a nice, fast spin in a production spec of this new car. According to General Motors, Mero did a lap around the famous Nurburgring in Germany in 7 minutes, 26.4 seconds. Mero felt that he could have even gone faster in a couple of places on the track. This ZR1 Corvette is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 rated at 638 hp. This time around this track is 3 seconds faster than the time posted by the Nissan GT-R in April. The GT-R is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 rated at 480 hp.
The Corvette ZR1 will sell for a base price of $105,000 and a fully optioned price of $117,000 though the car will get a gas-guzzler tax of $1700 off the price. The top speed on this car is 205 mph, making it the fastest Corvette ever! This car will go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, and for those that may care, the gas mileage is 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.
Only 338 of the 3932 Chevrolet dealers in the U.S. will be able to sell these cars. There will only be 2000 for sale this year in the U.S. Therefore, the price of the Corvetter ZR1 will be even higher with the demand as high as most dealers expect it to be.
So, for those of you that missed “Drive your Corvette to Work Today” because you didn’t have one, find a Chevy dealer near you and buy the new Corvette ZR1 before next year’s special Corvette day!
