New Honda Hybrid

According to Msnbc.com, Honda has announced that their new gas-electric hybrid will cost less than the Toyota Prius, which is its major competitor.  This new Honda hybrid, whose name has not been announced yet, will be a five-door car only available with a hybrid powertrain.  It is smaller than the Honda Civic, and it will be priced less than the Honda Civic Hybrid according to Richard Colliver, the executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co.  This new hybrid will become available in April 2009.  There will be approximately 100,000 available for sales in North America.  The Honda Civic sticker price starts at $22,600 and the Toyota Prius sticker price starts at  $21,500.  The mileage for the new Honda hybrid has not yet been disclosed. The Toyota Prius gets 45 miles per gallon on the highway and 48 miles per gallon in the city.  I guess we will have to wait and see what the name of this new car will be and the specifics of it until further notice.  It will be interesting to see if this hybrid is as popular and the good sales that the Toyota Prius has in the United States.
