Renting a classic car
There is a big auto show this weekend called the Woodward Dream Cruise in Bloomfield Hills, MI. It’s a typical auto show with more than 30,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom collectors, and special interest vehicles. This is the 17th annual dream cruise, and it’s always on the third weekend of August. All these cars take a cruise down Woodward Avenue.
What struck me of most about this particular auto show is that there is a company called Classic Auto Rental in Southfield, MI that rents classic cars to people throughout the year, but people specifically rent this weekend to participate in the Dream Cruise. The company has 8 cars that they rent. It’s obviously expensive to buy and own a classic car, so this is the best of both worlds. You get to ride in one and be part of a big event like the Dream Cruise, but then you return the car with no further expenses. Pretty cool if you ask me. The price of the classic car rentals are $300 a day and $750 for the three-day weekend, which most people do for this auto show. Some others rent this classic cars for weddings or even to decide if they want to make the big purchase. I think it’s a great idea, and truly more people should have businesses like this one. I think that it would be quite profitable (if you are in the right market area.) Maybe my next lifetime…
