Wheels and tire monitoring system

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Aftermarket wheels are always a huge hit for vehicle gurus.  People love them.  There is a downside though.  Now that the technology in vehicles is so much better, it’s hard to just buy new, bigger wheels without causing your tire pressure system to go crazy.   I read an article where someone bought 19 inch wheels and tires, but then needed to buy 17 inch wheels to put snow tires on.  The cost of all of those wheels and tires is just the beginning of his problems.  Now, the tire pressure monitoring system cannot recognize all of these different tires.  So, now he has to buy new tire sensors for these tires.  It’s at least $50 a sensor. In some cases, you may want to be aftermarket sensors, because they will be cheaper.  So, now your tire upgrade is probably approaching $800-$1000. Yikes. This is where you really have to think about making changes to your vehicles.  The technology hurts you.  Everything costs more and you can’t not buy the new sensors. Low tire pressure can majorly screw up your car as well as be unsafe. Check into these things before you spend the money to buy the aftermarket wheels then you can enjoy your aftermarket wheels and tires!!!

I know that some people need to get their parts and things from their dealerships, but I just quickly searched wheels, rims, car parts in general, and the choices you have on the internet is amazing. I’m sure that obviously some websites are a lot better than others, but if you spend enough time researching these websites you can find some awesome aftermarket wheels and rims.  I did just doing a quick search.  Of course if you need centercaps or hubcaps, you know that centercaps.net is the best for that!  LOL.  I know that most of you are definitely probably aware of this information, but I just thought I’d possibly remind you guys that there is sooo much out there to spruce up your vehicles. What could be better than some aftermarket rims that will get people noticing your vehicles on the streets?  That’s cool.

Aftermarket Wheels

How many of you have aftermarket wheels?  I googled aftermarket wheels and couldn’t get over how many different choices you have to choose from.  It’s a HUGE market.  I thought I’d give some quick facts in case you didn’t know about aftermarket wheels.  Elementwheels.com offers tons of aftermarket wheels for every make and model. You can even get these wheels for your minivan! Another aftermarket wheel company is rims-n-tires.com.  They offers a large selection of custom aftermarket wheels. These wheels are very competitive, so do your homework before buying them.

I thought I’d explain to you guys a few different wheels, so you know what is what when and if you are looking for aftermarket wheels.

Roderick Wheel - Elementwheels.com offers these for Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, and Japanese luxury vehicles.  This wheel was designed to target luxury vehicles.

Staggered Wheels - this means that the rear wheels are wider than the front wheels, giving you what is known as a larger lip in the rear.  Sometimes you can even get front and rear wheels the same size and still have the larger lip in the rear.

Black/Machined Face (with Chrome Lip) - these wheels give you the look of a 3 piece wheel without the 3 piece price.  Some of these wheels are the Vertini wheel, Vossen wheel, and the XIX wheels.

So, here is the basic, and I mean basic details of aftermarket wheels. There is sooo much information out there about these wheels it’s incredible.  Take a look when you get a chance if you are interested.

I’d love to hear from some people that have aftermarket wheels and if you have always bought them or if you are a first timer!
